Thought for Thursday: Hee Haw

Who remembers the 70s Variety Show Hee Haw? The show which took place deep in the country, was pretty popular when I was growing up in SC. Looking back it had to be the corniest show ever! There was one segment that I looked forward to which featured a group of men sitting on their porch drinking moonshine, singing and crying over something that didn’t go their way. They sang a song of major despair. I liked the song so much that when things didn’t go my way you could find me in my room or on Granny’s front porch singing: “Gloom, Despair, Agony on me; Deep, Dark, Depression, excessive misery! (Ohhhh!) If it weren’t for bad luck, I’d have no luck at all, (ohhhhh!) Gloom, Despair, and Agony on me” Can you think of anything more depressing to sing? Such a dismal response to not being able to ride my bike or go to the movies. LOL. Obviously back then I didn’t know that my words had power. We all have bad days. It’s ok to dwell in sorrow for a little while, but we can’t stay there forever. Give yourself a time limit. Once you hit the time limit, bounce back. Whatever you do DON’T pronounce gloom, despair and agony over your life. Whew… #Imalittlebitcountry #Imalittlebitrockandroll #50to50 #stilllearning#healthismental #powerinyourwords #watchwhatyousay #speaklife
